Apps to Keep You Fit as a Fiddle

Fitness and staying trim is a big part of my life, not just because I’m health conscious but because I think that mentally the benefits of exercising are so rewarding. Some of the skills needed to maintain a regular fitness routine are transferable to entrepreneurship – confidence, stamina, persistence, strength – all of these qualities make for a great entrepreneur. I’ve pulled together a list of my favourite fitness apps:

  1. Daily Workouts

If you need inspiration for your daily workout, then this app will fit the bill. You can choose from over 300 exercises and workouts ranging from 5 to 30 minutes. If you’re new to some of the exercises, there is a handy video showing you how to do each exercise, you can even customise routines to include your favourites. 

  1. The Wahoo 7 Minute Workout

This free app allows you to become your own personal trainer, but the real bonus is each workout is only 7 minutes. Designed for those keen to keep fit but find it hard to make time, there are 12 HIIT exercises to choose from which are 30 seconds with a 10 second rest in-between each; and if you’re new to HIIT there is a video and text description of each exercise.

  1. MyFitnessPal

Designed to help you lose weight, MyFitnessPal is a calorie counting app, with a huge database of foods. Even if you don’t want to be strict about losing weight, I find it’s a great tool for keeping an eye on daily calories, and it has made me make a few lifestyle changes.

Finally, not an app, but for exercising I recommend Powerbeats3 Wireless headphones. They easily connect to your iPhone, but remove the cable which can get in the way whether you’re out for a run or down the gym. The best thing about these is if you forget to charge it before your next session, a 5-minute charge will give you an hour of playback. They are without a doubt far more comfortable than any other headphone I’ve used as well!
